Tear open your favorite Zombie Graphic Novel or Comic
Comics are not just for superheroes anymore. When steroid-pumped, latex-wearing do-gooders have taken their toll, enter the world of zombie comics. Some of the best zombie tales have been created in the form of the zombie graphic novel. Not only are the stories great, they are also a feast for the eyes, as some of the artwork produced here is phenomenal.

The Walking Dead is probably the most highly revered and respected zombie comic on the shelves right now (see below for more info in our 'Recommended' section). While series' such as The Walking Dead, Zombies: Feast, Escape of the Living Dead and Raise the Dead follow the more traditional nature of zombies, other graphic novels have strayed from the formula with equally creative results. Smooth-talking, motorcycle-riding ghouls (DeadWorld), gangsters and samurai (Zombies: Eclipse of the Undead), schoolchildren (Recess Pieces), musical theater (Zombie Broadway), Astronauts (Containment), hard-boiled detectives (Criminal Macabre) and robots (Zombies Vs. Robots) all get involved in the fight against our favorite decomposers.
And if some of those don't sound odd enough, Jesus also decides to handle the zombie plague (Jesus Hates Zombies).
Remember when we mentioned superheroes? Well, not even they are safe anymore - not since Marvel Comics launched the immensly successful Marvel Zombies series, turning some of our favorite characters in to flesh-starved, brain-eating maniacs! The series has spawned numerous sequels, including one pitting Evil Dead's Ash against the Marvel Universe (Marvel Zombies Vs. Army of Darkness). Batman: Gotham County Line is another example of recent zombie comics involving superheroes.
Film adaptations of George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead and Land of the Dead have also been translated into zombie graphic novel form, as well as fan-favorite Shaun of the Dead.
Recommended Zombie Comics and Graphic Novels
The Walking Dead continues to be the single greatest zombie comic, if not one of the most thrilling and interesting zombie stories of all time. Started in 2003 by writer Robert Kirkman, this series rivals even George Romero's best work. Starting simply enough with a group of people attempting to survive in a world overturned by the undead, the twists and turns that continue to take place in this zombie comic are truly breathtaking. This series of zombie graphic novels (and monthly issues) should not be missed.
